About

I’m Mike Williams, a former software developer, and now freelance tech writer based in the UK.

Currently you’ll find my words in print in magazines like Computeractive’s Ultimate Guide To, or PC Plus, as well as online at Techradar, Downloadcrew.com and Softwarecrew.com (and then syndicated to sites like Betanews).

I also have some ideas for software projects, though: mostly just very small, but interesting nonetheless. And so, when and if I have time, I’ll be working on those and making them available here.

    Hello Mike,

I am Paul Bowlay, the founder and lead programmer of AlomWare.

Almost a year ago, you very kindly published a review of AlomWare Actions on BetaNews:

    http://betanews.com/2016/02/16/automate-almost-any-pc-task-with-alomware-actions-lite/

That was a very early release at the time, but the app is now at v1.37 (as of today) and has improved immensely.

I’d like to invite you to please revisit the home page and take a look at the vast improvements:

    http://www.alomware.com/actions.htm

And here is the latest change log for it:

    http://www.alomware.com/actions-changes.txt

I was hoping maybe you could mention the product on BetaNews again, to renew more interest in it?

    Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, apologies, didn’t get to read this until now, and I’ve been so slow I think you’ve had some updates already! But I’ll check it out in the next couple of days.

Can environment variables be used in the “command to launch” part when creating custom entries.

Hi Mike, I just read a few of your reviews in softwarecrew.com and really appreciate your thorough, yet concise manner of explaining functionality and pros and cons of various tools and apps.

Of course, I super appreciate the recent review of Redmorph, where I work! I was wondering how you heard of Redmorph?

    Thanks,
    David

Hi David, sorry for the delay in replying! As I didn’t get to read this for a few weeks I don’t recall the exact source, but I think I read it in a security forum somewhere… Probably one of the major ones, so I don’t think it’ll be any source you don’t know about already.

    Hi Mike,

I was happy to discover on Beta News your review of the Polarr photo editor: Polarr 3 is a versatile photo editor for Chrome.

I’m Mike, the creator of BatchPhoto Espresso, a free online and mobile batch photo editing app that will be released on April the 10th but for which you can have early access right now:
    http://www.batchphoto.com/espresso

BatchPhoto Espresso is the free online and mobile version of my main product: BatchPhoto. BatchPhoto is a fully-featured bulk editing solution for Mac and Windows which has been in development since 2005. If interested, I can offer you a free license with no strings attached!

Since I am about to release BatchPhoto Espresso on April the 10th, would you like to be among the first who tries it?

    Regards,
    Mike Cosmin Unguru

Hi Mike, sorry for the delay in replying, some WordPress weirdness. Your product is just released so I’ll check it out in a day or two.
